Lookin' Good For 69!

Freckles turned 11 today and according to the chart on the wall of vet's office, based on his weight (39 lbs) and the chronological age, he is 69 in dog years today.

We celebrated with some extra treats and a birthday hat. The treats he loved, the hat he did not.

His most favorite gift today was for me to leave the front door open so that the sun could stream in on him - he is easy to please.

Losing That Baby Look

I got my Canon XT just as my son was on the cusp of losing his little boy look. I can remember snapping his picture and thinking that I was so glad I had saved enough money at the time that I did to take these precious last young boyhood photos, all the while wishing I had had the camera many years prior.

I can't help but think that any parent with a digital camera is probably in the throws of taking every possible picture they can of their kids - something our parents could never have afforded to do "back in the day" when we used film and had to send it out to be developed.

Tonight, I went through my files of photos of my boy just to see how he has changed in the almost 2 years I've had my Canon. I also wanted to experiment with making my watermark for photos. I know I probably didn't do it right but I'll eventually figure it out.

Oh, yesterday Miz Booshay tagged every one - sixth folder, sixth photo. This little redhead was mine.

I hope everyone has a safe, dry, warm weekend. Who do you want to win in the Super Bowl tomorrow???

Skywatch Friday

Late afternoon sun today. Minutes later, view of any sunset was totally clouded over.
Check out other skies from around the world at Skywatch Friday!

It Was Just About The Photos

A while back, I mentioned that I had my brand new Moving Star external hard drive crash shortly after I got it. With this crash, went all my photos from our St. Patrick's Day party in 2007 and also my husband's 50th birthday celebration. However, I happily found the above two pictures that were taken and placed in a folder on the hard drive of the family PC. The sole purpose for this blog was to document the improvement (or lack thereof) of my photography skills and would only be viewed by me. Little did I know that keeping a blog and eventually making it public could lead to the fun that it has. One of the best things is finding fellow bloggers with similar interests to mine. One blogger in particular has gone above and beyond normal blogging duties by offering me a help in creating blog banners.

Last night I had the privilege to meet Angie Arthur (well, not in person but over the phone) of The Arthur Clan fame and I Heart Faces fame. We had talked via the internet a good while back about my banner making skills (or lack thereof) and Angie graciously offered to walk me through using Photoshop to create a banner for my blog. Unfortunately, being the non-expert at CS4 that I am, I got hung up on about step 3 of her instruction and try as I might to unlock the stubborn layer, we didn't get far into the tutorial. However, we will try again once I do some homework on my end.

Angie, I just wanted to stay that I appreciate you taking time out of your hectic schedule and also away from Sweatiepy to help a fellow blogger out. It was wonderful to chat with you and I'll look forward to delving into this again very soon, after I get my layers all lined up!

It may have started out as just being "about the photos" but my blogging has become so much more thanks to people like Angie.

Dogs on Thursday, Again on Friday!

Here he is in all of his stunning, sleepy glory! I'd love to get action shots of Freckles but there is no action happening anywhere in his life. Thank goodness I'm not relying on a video camera for him!!!

He's entitled to these years of rest... he was very active as a puppy and always in trouble. Now, he's just my velcro, snoozing, snoring beagle who is loved to pieces!

Be sure to check out Dogs on Thursday for great photos of hopefully more active pups than mine!

My Goodness, I Think Have A Problem!

I didn't realize until this AM, when I went to put my chapstick on, that I may have a problem. I looked on my bureau and this is what I found.

I thought, Yikes, how did I end up with FOUR?

I then opened my nightstand drawer for my hand cream and I found SIX more!

Last week I picked up one from CVS when I was checking out at the register AND
I then remembered yesterday that I picked another up when I went to the store for a hairbrush.

I wonder if they have some sort of support group for this................................
