Who Were Yours?

Way back when I was a kid, my crushes were usually on celebrities...or some of my sister's dates. However, in looking back on my choices, they certainly weren't your obvious or usual ones like David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, Paul McCartney (I am really dating myself), or Richard Chamberlain (rememba Dr.  Kildaire? - probably not). Anyway, I woke this morning thinking about the men I had a crush on...

First, there was this guy - hint Danno on Hawaii Five-O.

Then there was this guy - David Gates - rememba "Baby Ima Wantchu"?

And then him.... before he went all Liberace on us.

And, finally, now this gets really pathetic...but I ran home every day from school to watch this guy...

I think I should have gone for counseling.

However, I did end up marrying my first crush's namesake - Dan O!

He's not a musician, not a detective, and sure as shootin' not a vampire. Funny how things work out.

Do you remember your TV/movie heartthrobs???

It Won't Be Like This For Long....

As a follow-up to my previous post about our solar system, this song does me in every time I hear it and especially at this particular time in my life.... If you've never heard it before, and/or if you are a parent of a baby, a toddler, or a teen, listen to each and every word....

I saw Darius Rucker in concert last night. I am very thankful for my Tamron VC 18-270 lens. We were in the third level up and yet I was able to zoom in like this..... can you see his filling in one of his teeth? I can....

NASA and Our Government Are Keeping This a Secret

NASA scientists have made a recent discovery that our government doesn't want you to know about. Up until about three weeks ago, we all believed that the sun was the center of our universe as depicted in the photo posted here...

This is no longer the case as it had been determined, here in my very own household, that my daughter is now the center of our universe and the new configuration of our "solar" system looks like this.

Based on information obtained from friends/family, this center of the universe situation will remain for probably the next 3-4 years or so and then our universe will revert to it's prior configuration. I just hope I survive this temporary realignment....  Fellow bloggers, I am open to any and all suggestions of coping mechanisms.

We Are Family, Oldie But Goodie

This week's theme for I Heart Faces is "We Are Family". I have lots of old film photos (I can't believe my stuff can be called "old" now) of my DH with the kiddos.  The one I chose for this week was not a posed photo - it is just one of those candid moments of what was a nightly ritual in my home when the kids were small.  Dan didn't wear the hat all the time, only when reading Dr. Seuss.

I Heart Faces - Best Face Photo

It is so hard to believe that I Heart Faces is already celebrating it's first birthday. What a fun and learning-ful year 2009 was thanks to Angie and Amy.

In honor of this birthday, this week's photo challenge is supposed to be our "Best Face", and the photo had to be taken in either December 2009 or this month. My entry was taken just last evening as my daughter prepared to go to her high school's snow ball (which was supposed to be on December 19 but got postponed because of heavy snow - go figure).  Anyway, I caught her just as she was putting on her necklace. I felt it just captured her.... wondering, probably, if she was going to have a good time and if she made the right decision about the dress, etc.  She had an absolute blast and told me that in all of her almost four years of high school this was by far the "most fun" dance she had gone to.

I softened the edges of the photo using the dodge tool and I decreased the saturation a bit. Finally, I cropped it a bit to zoom in on her face. Oh, and I also reminded her to remove the string friendship bracelets before she left for the dance.

Be sure to go on over to I Heart Faces to see all of the other "birthday" entries.

Celebrating I Heart Faces

I am submitting this photo into the I Heart Faces logo photo contest. By entering, I am granting I Heart Faces LLC permission to consider my photo for use in the marketing and promotion of their website.”

This week we are allowed to enter up to five photos.  I had fun with this challenge. I need better photoshop skills but I think I did okay.

Christmas 2009 with two kissin' cousins!

I heart my son - he was very happy on his birthday.

My friends just got a place at the beach, and the three men enjoyed a photo op from up in the loft!

This is what hubby won at our Christmas Yankee Auction, but I have yet to see him pack his lunch in it and take it to the office...

Playing some Paul Simon music from the bleachers.

Be sure to head on over to I Heart Faces and see the other entries for this week!
